Pratyush

Pratyush comes from the Sanskrit compound 'pratyusha' or 'pratyusa', itself built from two elements: 'prati', a versatile prefix meaning toward, against, or facing, and 'usha', the Sanskrit word for dawn as well as the name of Ushas, the Vedic goddess of the dawn. Together they form a word that literally describes the moment of facing or encountering the dawn, the threshold between darkness and light. Ushas is one of the most celebrated deities of the Rigveda, hymned across multiple suktas as a beautiful young woman driving away darkness and awakening the world.
