Chidi

Chidi derives from the Igbo language, one of the principal languages of south-eastern Nigeria. It is formed from two core Igbo elements: 'Chi,' meaning God, a personal spirit, or a divine force, and 'di,' meaning 'exists' or 'is present.' Together, they create a declarative statement of faith: 'God exists.' In Igbo cosmology, 'Chi' is a profound concept that goes beyond a simple translation of 'God.' It refers to a personal guardian spirit or life force assigned to each individual, shaping destiny and fortune. The philosopher Chinua Achebe explored this concept extensively, noting that Chi represents the unique spark of the divine within every person.
