Kaashvi

Kaashvi derives from the Sanskrit verbal root 'kash,' which means to shine, to be radiant, or to illuminate. This root is ancient and productive, giving rise to a cluster of important Sanskrit words. 'Kasha' means brilliance or light. 'Kashyapa' (a revered Vedic sage) is thought by some scholars to share this root. Most importantly for this name, 'Kashi' is the ancient Sanskrit name for Varanasi, meaning 'the city that shines' or 'the luminous city,' a name chosen because Varanasi was regarded as one of the most spiritually radiant places on earth, eternally illuminated by the presence of Lord Shiva. The suffix '-vi' in Kaashvi functions similarly to '-i' or '-ee' endings in Sanskrit feminine names, creating a personification of the quality described by the root.
