From this root comes the classical Arabic noun ru'ya (رُؤْيَا), which specifically denotes a vision experienced during sleep, particularly one believed to carry divine or prophetic meaning. The word appears in the Quran in several significant passages, most notably in the story of the Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), whose ability to interpret dreams is central to his narrative.
