Yongli

The character 力 (lì) is one of the most ancient and recognisable in Chinese script. Its earliest pictographic form depicted an arm or a plough, representing the physical force required for agricultural work, one of the foundational acts of Chinese civilisation. Over time its meaning expanded from raw physical strength to encompass effort, capability, mental drive, and the power of will. It appears in classical philosophical texts as a component of 努力 (nǔlì, to strive hard), 能力 (nénglì, ability), and 毅力 (yìlì, perseverance), demonstrating that its connotations cover both the exertion of the body and the discipline of the mind.
